My Visit To Pinewood Studios

Sunday 29th April 2007 was one of the best days ever, my first Carry On event, and what an event it was!  The event was to celebrate Jack Douglas' 80th birthday, it was a fantastic day enjoyed by all.

We, (that is myself, my sister Emma and Grandad), headed up to Pinewood Studios in London for an afternoon of excitement at being in Pinewood Studios, the home of the Carry On films, unchanged despite the years.

We arrived, at the same time as Jack Douglas himself, it was so exciting to see him, and Jack wasn't the only guest in attendance, Shirley Eaton, Angela Douglas, Jacki Piper, Fenella Fielding, Lance Percival, Valerie Leon, Alan Hume, Madeline Smith and Val James (Sid James' widow) also came to join the fun, as well as Peter Rodgers.

During the day we watched a short film showing highlights from Jack's life, then we all got chance to meet the stars and get our memorabilia signed.  I met not only the wonderful Jack Douglas, but also Shirley Eaton and Angela Douglas, and Val James too.  I wanted to get something signed by all the stars, but sadly that wasn't possible.

We got to have a drink and look around the beautiful gardens at Pinewood studios, which were used in the filming of Carry Ons like "Up The Khyber" "Henry" and "Don't Lose Your Head".  Fantastic!

We had dinner in the Pinewood ballroom, a fantastic and very elegant room.  After dinner Jack got presented with his card and present from all the guests in attendance.  The stars said a few words about Jack, and the guests got to ask questions.

Peter Rodgers arrived in time for the cutting of the cake.  It was a wonderful, wonderful day, I didn't want to leave.

One of the best parts of the day was meeting all the other fans, and fellow members of the "Carryonline" forum.  A big thank you to all of you who are reading this and said hello, you made me, Emma and Grandad feel very welcome and at ease with you all, and I hope to see you at another event...

CARRY ON!!

(The more observant will notice the music playing in the background on this page is the theme tune of Carry On Jack... couldn't resist )
